Remarks on the Theory of Relativity
( updated Nov 16 2009 )
Why this page was created
Since my days of youth I was astonished by Einstein's theory of
relativity. The fact of not understanding it seemed quite normal to me
as I was
not a professional in that matter. After having
studied mathematics and physics the situation seemed to have changed.
For some time I believed to understand what my teachers and reading
books told me. But there was some doubt left always. After decades
since
my first encounter with the subject I ended up with the conviction that
there must be something wrong, at least with the Special Theory of
Relativity (SRT). I met people having studied the same matter
who
admitted not having understood it either or came up with even less
understandable explanations. Secondary literature mostly was not
helpful as the critical questions ( to my opinion ) were excluded. So I
adhered to Einstein's original texts as far as possible.
Basic
notes
I know that a lot of critics has been published on the SRT. Not all of
them is free of polemics or other little helpful intentions. I
mention here that I try to adhere as close as possible only to the aim
of finding the truth. I'm free from commercial, professional or other
restrictions preventing me from this.
I don't share most of the critics on the SRT I read so far. There are a
few
publications and webpages I appreciate, however. I will mention them or
link to them after getting the consent of the authors.
